Barry Murray was born in Salem, OH in 1960, the third of four boys. He grew up in western Pennsylvania. When his father passed away during his teen years, the family moved to the Youngstown, Ohio, area to be nearer to other family members. The house his mother purchased was down the road from a family that rode the bus to Lake Milton Baptist Temple, where Barry eventually visited, got the assurance of his salvation, and met his wife, Andrea. They were married in that church in 1980 and were involved there until they left to attend Hyles-Anderson College in 1985.
While in college, the Lord blessed them with two sons, Paul and Titus. After graduating from Hyles-Anderson, the Murrays moved to Charleston, SC, where Bro. Murray became the bus director and school principal at Trident Baptist Academy. While in SC, their daughter, Rebekah, was born. From that time to this, Bro. Murray has been the assistant pastor at 3 different churches, and has pastored in both Harrisburg, NC, and Allison Park, PA. He pastored at the last church for almost 18 years.
Following God’s leading, Bro. Murray resigned that pastorate in 2018 and he and his wife moved to Kannapolis, praying for God to continue to lead them. They joined and got busy serving here at Central, and then after 18 months, Pastor Dean hired Bro. Murray as the Associate Pastor, in charge of the building and grounds, pastoral care and evangelism.
